Small Bore has become very popular at an exponential rate in recent years. There is a dedicated group of students who participate every Tuesday night alongside the Arthur Barnetts club who provide equipment, coaching and extra help for those who require it. There are several Otago and South Island representatives which is a remarkable achievement given the absence of the sport in our school for some time.

The students have shoulder to shoulder interschools with Waitaki Boys’, Otago Boys’ and Southland Boys’ High Schools.  There are numerous postal shoots for secondary schools.  King’s focuses particularly on the Eley/TSNZ Challenge and the Triple S NZ Secondary School Champs.  Of consequence are also the Otago Secondary Schools Champs Shield and the National Secondary School Championships.

In 2014, King's won the National Postal Competition and two players; John Brosnahan and Morris Stephenson were selected for the NZ U19 rep team.

In 2013 King’s placed 1st and 2nd in the Otago Secondary Schools Championship.

Nationally the King’s team was ranked 3rd in the two postal shoots it targeted.
